This project began in June 2001 and was completed in December 2004 at a cost of
Rs. 8.9 million. This was the only GoPb project that was initiated for up grading
Government Primary Schools to Middle level through community participation. The
local community was expected to contribute towards 20% of the total capital cost.
Originally, the Programme was responsible for up-grading 10 primary schools but
after realizing that a contribution of Rs. 163,700 from the rural community was
an unrealistic expectation, the Programme sought a downward review of the number
of up-gradations. By the end of 2006-2007, PRSP had successfully arranged for additional
physical facilities at 7 primary schools to ensure up-gradation to the middle level.
